Translation of the famous Marathi Poem praising Marathi Language by Kavi Madhav Julian

Kavi Madhav Julian was the most well known Marathi poet who was a scholar in Persian, German, Sanskrit as well as Arabic languages. He submitted his thesis on Metre in Poetry :a Comparative Study to Bombay University which denied to consider it for Ph D on petty grounds but he submitted it to the university in Germany which offered him D Litt. Till date there is no other Marathi writer who can be equal to him in scholarship and his multi lingual approach in those days. In this poem he had eulogised Marathi Language which was not the language of state administration in those days. His use of the metaphor of the language being a beggar was later used by Kusumagraj in his other poem criticising government policies in not attributing status to Marathi Language. My father late Yashwant Shinde who taught Marathi in school inculcated love for the study of language in my mind. He quoted often from Madhav Julian, S K Kanetkar (Kavi Girish), B R Tambe, Keshavsoot and Pallavi. He engaged me in radio listening when these poems, stage songs (natya geet) , classical music (mata bhavani of Gangubai Hangal) and Kundan Lal Saigal. These listening moments spent with him and poems he recited have become the gist of my existence and whenever I read, hear or listen to these cultural and literary resonances my mind is full of great unknown sorrow and at the same time it soars high in unknown unreachable spheres where the mundane realities of life can't even touch me.
What best tribute to my father it could be any other than translating these literary pieces into English, the love for this language and the career in teaching in which he rather forced me ?
Therefore I have been translating. While coming to Wai this morning I heard that famous, heart touching poem of Madhav Julian (Madhav Trimbak Patwardhan) : मराठी असे आमुची मायबोली जरी आज ती राजभाषा नसे ...  the poem is most melodiously rendered by Jyotsna Bhole. It's in the collection of Pune All India Radio. In fact they played all his select poems this morning.. G N Joshi and others like Jyotsna Bhole have sung in their heavenly voice.
Here is the translation of that poem for avid listener es and readers of Marathi
Literature.

Marathi is Our Mother Tongue
Madhav Julian

Marathi is our mother tongue though it's not our state language
May be our mother is sans wealth today, she is sure to succeed in future
Though Mrs English is acknowledged over five continents
Though Marathi is a pauper why should I desert myself from her bosom ? ।।1।।

Though Hindi is acknowledged in the new Hindu state,
Those who are Marathas in their heart chant her name knowing her worth, grandeur,
May we be in distant Peshawar, in North or distant Thanjavur
Marathi is our mother tongue , she is indeed the goddess of wisdom ।।2।।

Marathi is our mother tongue, though we follow different religions ,
We have sense of brotherhood, we eat from the same plate,
We are her children, we shall repay her debt, she lives in our bosom
We shall dedicate world acclaim to her, we shall ensconce her on the top of wealth ।।3।।

We are ashamed of her tattered clothes, don't just look at those tatters,
Her celestial beauty will put fairies to shame,
Though we may not embellish her with precious literary diamonds and pearls
We know that our call 'Marathi is our mother tongue ' is futile unless we work well ।।4।।
Marathi is our mother tongue, she has lost lustre in loss of independence,
She lost all her covetous wealth due to our own neglect
Despite that, we will sure delve in deep seas of literature and give her back all her pearls and diamonds

Let's not stay in her debt on us, world languages will pay back her debt ।।5।।
